Premier Cru Volnay« Clos des Angles »

Appellation
Volnay is a village and appellation that stands just south from Pommard and Beaune. Volnay is very distinctive from its neighbouring appellation for its rather fruity and gentle body, and is well recognized to be one of the most elegant wine and appellation in Burgundy.

Vineyard
Clos des Angles" parcel, located at the border with Pommard appellation, refers to its "angles" as it is indeed a triangle shaped parcel. This parcels have a gentle slope and is benefiting from an eastern exposure with an elevation of 250m. The soil, having a high proportion of small gravels and clay, is gifting us with very nice grape ripeness year after year. All what precedes is making this parcel a genuine gem within the Volnay appellation.

2016

Characteristic
The wines of the 2016 vintage have been exhibiting a quality that was quite unexpected, given the difficult start to the year. Climate events in the spring took a severe toll on the harvest, which will no doubt be among the smallest of the past two decades. Fortunately, this has not stopped Chateau de la Crée making wines that will fully live up to the expectations of lovers of Burgundy. In the course of vinification, the qualitative potential was soon confirmed, with lovely balance, which will give the wines elegance, finesse and structure, for both reds and whites. This constitutes the signature of this vintage.

Tasting note
Of a ruby colour, the Volnay 1er Cru "Clos des Angles" reveals an intense nose of red fruits, floral, spices and liquorice aromas. In the mouth it is round and elegant with smooth tannins. Very Elegant and Deliacte wine with structure.
